Sh… happens – laugh at it now
“Life is suffering,” said the Buddha and in modern American vernacular “Sh… happens.”
And sometimes it happens quite literally. This morning I was half awake when I flushed the toilet and it overflowed (and not just a little but a lot).
OK Sh… happens. So what to do? Clean it. Not a fun job, but someone had to do it. Actualy my wife and I did it together. I did the starting dirty job if using the plunger and clean up and then my wife washed the flor with bleach.
I was thinking that all bad things become funny when enough time has passed. So the best way to live is to put it behind you in the here and now (or at least as soon as the event is over) and laugh about it and have peace of mind.
In NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) we have three points of view:
- First person – subjective you are associated in the experience – this puts in touch with the emotions and allows you to magnify positive emotions by altering the submodalities of the experience
- Second person – empathy or walking a mile in the moccasins of the other person. I wish the Israelis and Palestinians spent a little of their time doing this and perhaps peace would come earlier.
- Third person – disassociated. This leads to an objective and less feeling based emotions. So when sh… happens go to the third person and laugh about it.
